CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2011

Dear Friends in Christ,

I greet all of our parishioners at this most Blessed time of the year, as we await the Birthday of Our Saviour, Jesus Christ! This is my tenth year here in the parish! I thank God for the many graces and blessings he has bestowed upon our parish over the past year, and especially during the ten years I have been here. I have never been more happy than being in a parish and, being able to minister to you, the Holy People of God! If you are new to the Parish Community, you are warmly welcomed! I hope and pray that you will always be happy here in Loughton. This Christmas Season is a truly wonderful opportunity for us to evaluate our own Catholic Faith, and also to hold on to the true meaning of this Holy Season. It’s so easy to get lost in the peripheries, and forget about Jesus Christ!

In June of this year our Bishop Thomas McMahon submitted his resignation to the Holy Father. The process has now begun to choose a successor to Bishop Thomas, who has served the diocese for the 31 years as our Bishop. This process of choice takes quite a long period of time, so it could be several more months before we know who our new Bishop will be. I commend to your prayers this process, and pray through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that the Lord will provide a worthy and holy Bishop for our Diocese of Brentwood

I would like to thank the whole parish community for everything you do throughout the year in support of the Parish. There is always so much good-will shown by so many! A Big Thank You, to all those who are involved in all sorts of ministries and groups throughout the parish! Your commitment and dedication is exemplary! I would also encourage as many parishioners as possible to get involved with parish life!

As you know this year we decided to ‘call it a day’ with the Annual Christmas Day Lunch & Tea. A big thank you, to all who have been involved over many years! Thank you for everything you did! I wish you and all your loved ones a very Happy, Holy & Blessed Christmas, and every blessing and success in the New Year 2012

With Love & Christmas Peace,
Fr. John J Harvey, PP
