Baptisms
Baptisms take place on either Saturday or Sunday,
usually at 12.30pm. Sharon Chalk, our Parish Catechist,
offers a programme for first time parents. Once the
course is completed the Parish Priest will make a
home visit to organise the Baptism.
Please contact Fr John Harvey at the presbytery.

First Holy Communion
Program
All the Important events in life require preparation,
so that we make sure that everything is clear and
everything goes as we hope. At this important point
in a child's life with God, Reconciliation and First
Holy Communion too require careful preparation.
The preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation
and the Eucharist is a very special time in the moral
and spiritual development of a child. Families enrol
for the Sacramental programme during the latter year
their child is in year 2; they are interviewed by
the Parish Priest.
The programme used here at St Edmunds promotes an
active co-operation between parents, Priest, catechists
and the entire parish family, whilst recognizing parents
as the primary educators in a child's religious development.
As parents we try to teach our children Christian
attitudes and behaviour and we do this through daily
habits, family customs and traditions. All this is
part of the Sacramental preparation and for this reason
the preparation needs to be a true family journey.
The course we follow for nine months is "We Celebrate
the Eucharistic", also known as The Golden Book.

John or Geraldine Bloomfield (0208 508 3323)

Confirmation Program
The Diocesan policy for confirmation is that those who are 14 years
and upwards are eligible candidates for the sacrament.Confirmation
usually takes place every three years when the Bishop
makes a pastoral visit to the Parish. Candidates are
normally age 14 or in Year 9 or above. The preparation
course usually commences two terms before the visit
of the Bishop. Details of the course and how to apply
are printed in the weekly newsletter once the date
for the Sacrament of Confirmation is set.
Marriages
If there are any couples anticipating marriage during the next year we require at least six months notice so that all documentation may be completed and that the couple attend a marriage preparation program.

Sacrament For The Sick
The sacrament of the sick is available on request from those who are in hospital and those who are sick and house bound.
An annual mass for the sick and house bound of the parish with the anointing of the sick takes place the Sunday before Ash Wednesday.
